Assessment Methods
One of the most unique and groundbreaking (in our humble opinion) aspects of Missing Links programming is the assessments and guardian communication.
At Missing Links we understand that every learner and every program is working on individualized targets and learning skills, so we have created custom assessment methods to show progress, highlight curriculum goals, and break down ABA strategies that are used in programming.
All of our reports are derived from ABA based assessments (ABLLS-R, VB MAPP, VB MAPP Barriers) or from educational documents (IEPS, Learning Plans, Safety Plans) and formatted so families get a good sense of programming goals and progress in easy to ready formats and language.
Take a look at some of the different reports and communication you’ll receive when you join the Missing Links family. Note that each program has a different collection of reports based on what the goals and structure is, but every month there is always a touch base or report sent home to keep communication clear and transparent.

Because our programs are so unique, the first communication with families is a breakdown of all the goals that we will be working on. For some students this has a greater focus on routine, behaviour, and learning skills, and for some students this will have a higher focus on academics, communication, and comprehension.

This document takes the program outline and goals to the next level and highlights the specific strategies that we are using for your child. Again, this document is individualized to each student, because every student learns differently and we not only recognize that - we celebrate it!

A huge part of ABA is addressing behaviour that can interfere with learning. As a progressive ABA facility we focus on addressing behaviour barriers that are socially significant so we can build confident and skills in your child so they can access things they love - friends, games, play, and learning!
We have both group and individual behaviour plans. If your student requires unique supports and plans, they will have a behaviour plan that meets then where they are and aims to address challenges and teach replacement behaviours (like communication and waiting skills) -
For our students working in our more foundational programs, we complete the barriers assessment for VB MAPP and share it with families. This allows families to understand that there are two goals we work on and want to see growth around - both learning new skills, but also identify and addressing challenges or barriers to learning (this could be a variety of things - 24 to be exact, like non compliance or barriers with communication).

Skills assessments are sent home to families and highlight the growth and goals around functional, learning and social skills. This report shows families how much we focus on learning skills to compliment academic and behaviour growth as well!

The progress and final reports for acquisition and consolidation students are the classic curriculum connections that you’ll find in our more academic programming. This is where you’ll get a sense of the literacy, math, science and social studies goals and progress that your child is making.
The progress and final reports for foundational and some essential skills students focuses on the key areas of programming and curriculum in these programs such as imitation, communication, pre-academics, social interaction and play, and self management.

Twice a year (or if otherwise scheduled in your program) families will have the chance to touch base with teachers and instructor therapist in our meeting blocks.
We encourage families to review the assessments they have and come with questions about learning and programming. Our staff will highlight some key areas of success and some areas we are focusing on for the next term.
