Intensive Behaviour Intervention (IBI) is an autism treatment program that utilizes the teaching methodology of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), the science of how behaviour works and how learning takes place.
In ABA, skills are broken down into manageable tasks and presented in a highly structured environment. Desired behaviour is rewarded and inappropriate behaviours are ignored, redirected or discouraged. The therapist/teacher carefully tracks what works and what doesn’t, and the program is adapted accordingly. Parental involvement, training and support are also key.
ABA is widely believed to be the safest and most effective treatment for Autism and related exceptionalities.
IBI programming is comprised of twenty or more hours of ABA per week, and has been found to lead to comprehensive, lasting improvements in the lives of individuals with autism.
Missing Links provides IBI and a variety of other education and treatment services, all of which are developed around Applied Behaviour Analysis teaching methods.
